Taj Mahal is an example of a crystalline Quartzite. If that does something, it's busted, you don't need to test further. They just don't get any DARKER over time. They should be able to get the job done for you. The people there were very patient with us and very helpful. It will not etch like Marble, but has a marble like appearance. Any reputable stone dealer and fabricator should be able to tell you which are grainy Quartzites and which are Crystalline.
